Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church To Celebrate 90 Years Of Serving South Kansas City


November 13, 2016 Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church will be celebrating 90 years of serving the south Kansas City, Mo. community. The celebration was kicked off with a free community breakfast on September 10th. In the Sundays leading up to the big celebration, several ordained “sons” of Calvary have been invited to preach. Read more. . . 

 

New CFNA Scholarship Students

Six new students are attending Lutheran schools in the St. Louis area this fall through the generosity of churches, donors and the Lutheran Foundation. They join eight other elementary students and 10 other high school students who are receiving CFNA’s “Adopt a Student” scholarships. Read more . . .

 

Trinity Soulard: Crochets Mats for the Homeless


On Sunday, October 16 a group of Trinity members and Soulard community residents gathered to learn how to crochet plastic bag mats that will be given to the homeless in the Soulard area. Read more. . . 

 

District Adding a New Advancement Position
The Missouri District has begun a search process for an Assistant to the President for Mission Advancement. 
  • This staff person will work with donors to raise support for Missouri District mission initiatives.
  • The person should be a member of a Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod congregation.
  • Experience in development work is preferable, but not required.
  • There will be regular travel within the state of Missouri to meet with donors and congregational leaders.
  • This position is accountable to the President of the Missouri District.
Those who are interested should contact Michelle Christ (michelle.christ@mo.lcms.org) to request a copy of the position description or to submit a resume and three references by November 15, 2016.

A Missouri District E2 Conference will be held Saturday, November 14 from 8 am – noon at Faith Lutheran Church located at 1517 E Valley Water Mill Rd, Springfield, MO 65803. The cost is $10 per registrant.

The purpose of the conference will be to encourage, equip and connect volunteers in our congregations through practical presentations, partnerships and networking.

If you don't get the chance to pre-register online, you still will be able to attend. You may walk-in the day of the conference and register/pay at the door.

District Pastors will meet at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach on October 31 - November 1 for the Missouri District Pastors’ conference “God’s Gift of Marriage in Troubled Times.” CLICK HERE for more information and to register.

Missouri District Mission Summit – Save the Date – June 3, 2017

The Missouri District will be hosting a Mission Summit next year at Concordia Seminary in partnership with LCMS Office of National Mission, Concordia Seminary, Lutheran Hour Ministries, Lutheran Church Extension Fund and Send Me St. Louis. The summit will feature Lutheran Hour Speaker, Rev. Greg Seltz presenting the keynote address. There will also be practical sessions and inspirational presentations to equip congregational leaders for reaching out to their community. Mark your calendars and plan to be there!
