Missouri District Pastors Conference


The Missouri District Pastors Conference was held October 31- November 1 at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach. The theme for the conference was “God’s Gift of Marriage.” The plenary speakers were Attorney Mark Stern, Rev. Dr. Matthew Rueger and Rev. Jonathan Fisk. The responders were Concordia Seminary professors, Dr. David Adams, Dr. Robert Weise, and Dr. Richard Marrs. The topics helped sensitize the conference attendees to the challenges facing pastors and the church related to the cultural pressures regarding marriage. Read more . . .

 

Missouri District Fall Jr. High Retreat


"The darkness is real, but Jesus has rescued us." These are words that Pastor Joel Beyer from Community Lutheran Church, San Marcos, Cali., shared during his first of four presentations to 300 J
r. High Youth of the Missouri District in attendance at the Fall Jr. High Retreat.

The retreat, held Oct. 28-30 at Camp Windermere on Lake of the Ozarks, was based on the theme "Rescued", taken from Colossians 1:13-14 "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."  Read more . . .

 

Opening Celebration for 500th Anniversary of Reformation

Christmas Country Church Tour


Celebrate the season of Christmas with the 12th Annual Christmas Country Church Tour on December 15 & 16, 2016 from 2-9 p.m. This event has become a favorite for hundreds. Voted in 2015 by AAA Travel Magazine as a “Travel Treasure”, hundreds of people have journeyed to the three county church tour to be inspired, delighted and rejuvenated with the true holiday spirit. Read more. . . 

 

District Adding a New Advancement Position
The Missouri District has begun a search process for an Assistant to the President for Mission Advancement. 
  • This staff person will work with donors to raise support for Missouri District mission initiatives.
  • The person should be a member of a Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod congregation.
  • Experience in development work is preferable, but not required.
  • There will be regular travel within the state of Missouri to meet with donors and congregational leaders.
  • This position is accountable to the President of the Missouri District.

A Missouri District E2 Conference will be held Saturday, November 12 from 8 am – noon at Faith Lutheran Church located at 1517 E Valley Water Mill Rd, Springfield, MO 65803. The cost is $10 per registrant.

The purpose of the conference will be to encourage, equip and connect volunteers in our congregations through practical presentations, partnerships and networking.

If you don't get the chance to pre-register online, you still will be able to attend. You may walk-in the day of the conference and register/pay at the door.

Missouri District Mission Summit – Save the Date – June 3, 2017

The Missouri District will be hosting a Mission Summit next year at Concordia Seminary in partnership with LCMS Office of National Mission, Concordia Seminary, Lutheran Hour Ministries, Lutheran Church Extension Fund and Send Me St. Louis. The summit will feature Lutheran Hour Speaker, Rev. Greg Seltz presenting the keynote address. There will also be practical sessions and inspirational presentations to equip congregational leaders for reaching out to their community. Mark your calendars and plan to be there!

LASE's Annual "Herald the Holidays" to Help Children with Special Education Needs

The St. Louis-based Lutheran Association for Special Education (LASE) will host "Herald the Holidays" Saturday, November 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the newly-renovated Orlando's, 2050 Dorsett Village Plaza in Maryland Heights. This year's event will include an elegant luncheon, a boutique, a 300-plus item silent auction, and the St. Louis Repertory’s Costume Parade highlighting costumes from a variety of performances throughout their fifty year history.

Tickets are $55 per person, or $550 for a reserved table of ten. Proceeds will provide
necessary funding for services to students with special education needs in the St. Louis and St. Charles communities.

Donations for the Children’s Challenge will be matched up to $5,000. "Herald the Holidays" raises over $50,000 annually for children in our community.

Mid-Missouri Lutheran Hospital Ministries

ATTENTION PASTORS With inclement weather ahead, you may not be able to make the trip to Columbia to provide pastoral care while your member is hospitalized at one of the seven Columbia hospitals. This is where Mid-Missouri Lutheran Hospital Ministry, supported by our Lutheran congregations in mid Missouri, will be of assistance to you with the pastoral services of Chaplain Richard Ingmire. He will visit your member with pastoral care and concern. You can request his services by calling him at 573-231-1424 (cell) or by email at ingmire67@hotmail.com. Your member may also contact him prior to the hospitalization, or register as Lutheran when being admitted.
